What are the Three Main Parts of a Car's Brake System?
A car's brake system is made up of three primary components: brake pads, brake rotors, and brake calipers. Brake pads are friction materials that exert pressure on the braking rotor or drum, causing friction to slow or stop the vehicle. Brake rotors are metal discs attached to the wheels, and when brake pads press against them, the friction slows down the wheel rotation, effectively stopping the car. Brake calipers contain the brake pads and operate using hydraulic pressure generated by the braking fluid. These components work together to turn the car's kinetic energy into heat via friction, slowing down the vehicle.
